OK, so I've slacked off. I am really good about updating snapfish but I'm terrible at updating my blog. I want to be better. I want to be sure that I log these memories so I can return to them and feel the joy I feel now. When my son puts his hand on my cheek and says "love u mommy", when he's tired and he HAS to hold my cheek when he gets tired. All these things I want to cherish forever. I never want to forget.
About 2 weeks ago, AJ started adding to our nightly prayer all by himself. We always pray "God thank you for this day that we've had together, thank you for getting Daddy home safe from work and be with him tomorrow too, thank you for (whatever we've done today) but most of all, we thank you for baby Jesus. Please be with us tonight as we sleep and keep us safe and wake us in the morning with your beautiful sunshine. In Jesus name we pray, Amen." We have prayed this prayer since he was little little. He began speaking with me in certain parts and the "In Jesus name, Amen" is so precious it brings tears to your eyes.
About a month ago Jason bought a seat that you add on to the back of your bike. He went out, bought the seat as well as the helmet and that child of mine absolutely adores the nightly "ride bike daddy-o's" Jason takes him down the *big hill* and AJ just laughs! It's so cool. Anyway, one night AJ and I were saying our nightly prayer as I was tucking him in and as we got to the part "thank you for this day we've had together", AJ promptly added in "thank you for ridin bike with daddy-o" I literally couldn't speak. Tears welled up in my eyes and I thought my heart would burst!!! It was the first time AJ understood to thank God for something that meant something to him. Those nightly rides with his daddy are special to him. They are so special he's added them in his prayers! What a wonderful milestone. To think that my son is developing a relationship with my wonderful God is just too amazing for words. I can't even express the emotions that flooded through me.
About a week later we were once again engaging in our nightly prayer when AJ added "thank you for bike with daddy-o, and GG"!!! GG (my mother) had spent a week with AJ and I while we were on vacation. AJ added her to his prayers!!!
Tonight, we spent a wonderful evening with our neighbors for dinner. They have a 4 year old daughter named Sophia. AJ pronounces it Sochia and he absolutely adores her. They really interact and play well together. He watches her so intently and attempts to copy evertying she does. Even if he can't do it well he will try his darndest. The other night he even picked her a flower (weed) out of our yard to give to her. I thought that was saved only for GG and myself. Tonight as I was tucking him in, after his book, during his prayer he added "thank you for bike with daddy-o, thank you GG, thank you Opa (Jason's dad), thank you Oma, thank you Sadie Mae, thank you Moose, thank you Sochia, thank you Percy (a thomas the train character), thank you Thomas (the main character).... This went on for about 5 minutes. He would stop and think of something else that was near and dear to his heart. Once he had something in mind he would say thank you for it, look at me and I was expected to repeat the thank you. He even thanked God for Chocolate. Now....does anyone doubt this child is mine???? LOL God has blessed me greatly with this amazing child. I wish my prayers were as simple as this greatful 2 year old.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Mt 19:14
Sometimes the words for my prayers are difficult to find. The one prayer that is never hard to utter is the prayer of thanksgiving for my family, my mother, my husband and my mini soul running around outside of my body, my child. Thank you Heavenly Father for these blessings you have bestowed upon me. Amen.
